Many people wonder what goes into this box of vegetables. Well, let us tell you...

What we put in your boxes is something that we think about constantly at the farm. We want every box to provide you and your family with a wide array of fresh, organic, biodynamically produced vegetables that allows you to experience the season as it occurs on your farm. The boxes generally contain 10-14 different items that we hope will nourish your body and fill your soul. Here is a general idea of what you can expect in your boxes each week:

I would like to be a shareholder in the Angelic Organics' Community Supported Agriculture Program. I understand that the farm workers will do their best to provide all they have promised, and I agree to excuse them for the mishaps that might trip them up.

Here is a general idea of what you can expect in your boxes each week:

  1. Lettuce - We aim to provide you with 2-3 heads of lettuce within each box. During the beginning of the season, 3 is more common as the heat of the season hasn't provided enough for many of the other vegetables to grow; however; one thing you can expect is a great deal of diversity in the types of lettuce that come in your box (No iceberg lettuce here).

  2. Cooking Greens - You should expect 1 type of cooking green each box. This is generally swiss chard or kale. Sometimes bunched, sometimes bagged but always delicious.

  3. Salad Greens - Generally you will receive one salad green in each box. These go splendidly with the lettuce provided or on their own. Arugula, tat soi, and spinach are some of our favorites.

  4. Brassicas - These are our cool weather loving crops (Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower) and as such, they tend to fill the boxes in the spring and fall. During their seasonal ripeness, you can expect to get 1-2 different brassicas in each box.

  5. Root Crops - 1-2 root crops should fill your box each week with beets starting off the season. Don't worry if you are not a huge fan of beets, you'll get plenty of carrots and potatoes too as the season progresses.

  6. Fruiting Crops - These are often the ones that people rave about. These include tomatoes, eggplant, corn, melons and more. As much as we would love to be able to give you several every week, these are also the ones that take a little bit more TLC from Mother Nature to get to mature. You'll get one type to start the season but as the season progresses, your box will swell with four, five maybe even six different types of fruit crops.

  7. Onion Crops (or Alliums) - Each week, you should find one type of onion crop hiding out in your box. From garlic to scallions to onions to leeks, we hope that the earthy aroma and taste of these beautiful vegetables bring visions of the farm to your table.

  8. Herbs - Our boxes wouldn't be complete with an herb to complement all the delicious vegetables. Basil, sage, summer savory, cilantro and dill are just a couple you'll find when you open the box.

So, how many for dinner?

We do our best to fill your 3/4 bushel produce box to the brim, equivalent to about 1 & 1/2 regular paper grocery bags. From late summer through fall, the boxes may bulge with over 20 lbs of produce. One full share generally satisfies the needs of two people with a vegetarian diet or four people with a mixed diet.
